Strengthening bilateral ties with Indonesia remains a top priority for Ireland. According to H.E. Pádraig Francis, Ambassador of Ireland to Indonesia, key priorities for 2025 include enhancing government collaboration, particularly on global issues, and fostering stronger people-to-people connections through education, trade, and tourism.
To gain further insights, we posed two written questions to the Ambassador of Ireland to Indonesia.
Key priorities for 2025: What are the key priorities for bilateral cooperation between our two countries in 2025?
Our key priorities for 2025 are to increase the strength and depth of relations between Ireland and Indonesia, with greater cooperation between our governments (in particular on multilateral global issues) and stronger people-to-people links, whether through education, trade or tourism.
Hopes for the future: what are your hopes for the bilateral relations between Ireland and Indonesia in the incoming year, particularly in terms of economic, political, industrial, trade or other sectors?
I hope that the number of Indonesians visiting Ireland will increase, in particular for education – every year more and more Indonesian students go to Ireland to study, where they not only get an excellent education but also make friends and connections from Ireland and all around the world. I hope that Irish and Indonesian businesses will seize more opportunities for trade and investment between our two dynamic economies. And I hope that more Indonesians will visit Ireland as tourists to see our beautiful country and experience our legendary hospitality.
H.E. Mr. Pádraig Francis, Ambassador of Ireland to Indonesia, has articulated a clear vision for a deeper and more meaningful relationship between our two countries. By prioritizing education, trade, and cultural exchange, we can build a strong foundation for future cooperation.
