The Ambassador’s residence is almost empty. Paintings and statuettes have been carefully packed, ready for the journey ahead. The white walls, once adorned with decorations, now stand bare. In the quiet rooms, the low hum of the air-conditioning seems louder than usual, as the residence patiently awaits its next residents. In these final days of his tenure, we sat down with the Ambassador of Austria to Indonesia, H.E. Thomas Loidl, to reflect on his nearly four years in the country, sharing his fond memories of Indonesia as well as his hopes for a more resilient nation in the years to come.
